Eve and Trueheart. I do wonder if part of the reverence comes from Eve rescuing him from Bowers in Conspiracy. -Laura

Trueheart is one of my favorite characters.
I have read every book in the death series...I am anxiously waiting for the next book.. my brother gave me a signed copy of her 1st book, Naked in Death, for my birthday 2 yrs ago. Every book is sooooo good.
Can't help but love Trueheart!
Yes Laura. I'm sure that part, if not all was because Eve rescued him from Bowers.
Such a sweetheart is Trueheart but right there them you need him
I'd say gratitude for sure but also it would be hard not to put Eve and her ideals on a pedestal... I know I do lol
Aawww...he's just so cute!
Laura thank you for all these book snippets. They bring back memories of the books
I definitely think that matters. It wasn't the only time she helped him out.
I love Trueheart and his sweet nature
Eve rescued him from Bowers he is happy be on her team
Trueheart was so fresh and green rookie, but Eve saw the potential in him. He is a good guy.
Love all the JD Robb books as well as Nora Roberts books!!
Love Trueheart! Ready for him to be more involved with Baxter on a case. Ready for horn dog Baxter to be hit with the love bug too lol
Trueheart is one of my favourite characters. Teaming him with Baxter is sheer genius
He's a good lad. Steady as can be asked for. According to Baxter, if I recall, Trueheart also has a subtle ability at interrogation that trips suspects into admissions. Makes me think putting him with Peabody to do an interrogation would be wickedly devastating. Throw Reo in and bad news for suspect, great fun for readers! π
You have to love Troy for his absolute purity of heart. He just wants to do a good job. Even Baxter can’t really corrupt him. He kind of reminds me of Clark Kent, in that bashful, innocent way.
He is so grateful; he, as Eve, always wanted to be a cop. She saw it and helped.
I absolutely adore Trueheart!!!! I love his want to be part of homicide
Trueheart is the complete polar opposite to Eve
Eve is a very good boss. [tdshape[]u+200b
Yes I love Trueheart
I adore Trueheart! π₯°
Love Trueheart!
The ongoing relationships between the characters is what makes the " In Death " series so great. From book one through book 58 the characters become real and you want to know what will happen to them in the future. Only a few series can reach that plateau. I await each book knowing I will be allowed to enter t he lives of characters that have become family.
LOL. A little panic from Roarke lifts Eve's mood. Of course, this is is still in the getting-to-know Mavis phase so of couse he'd panic. -Laura

I loved that chapter, the whole scene of her being terrified of dress shopping and him being terrified of Mavis helping her was hilarious!
Rereading this one now. So good π€
Love how they both have some hang ups, she is terrified of shopping, hospitals and him of colourful Mavis helping with wedding dress. Love the book, the author.
We don’t see Roarke rattled much so hearing this from him certainly keeps him a mortal as Eve says!!
I've read every book in the series in order, and still reread some of my favorites when I need a break. The chapter where Eve promised to go look at wedding dresses with Mavis is one of the best.
I'm reading this book right now. Laughed out loud at this part!
This was hilarious a great laugh out loud moment π€£
Well, darn! Guess what I'm going to be pulling off the shelf?!
Roarke rattled is rare, Eve can see him as mortal more
Eve knows how to push Roarke's panic button! π He doesn't rattle easily, but seeing it in this scene made me laugh.
He cannot believe she was going to buy her wedding dress with Mavis. Now Leonardo is his designer for all of Eve’s wardrobe ππ
Reading ( Pay back in Death) love all her books
I like that you can read them over and over and still pick up something new!
One of my favourite parts of this book x
I can just imagine the look of horror and shock on Roarke's face
I need to reread the books I have. Unfortunately I don't have all of the early ones..
Awesome!
Love the early books. They set up the character development
And to think that this book was originally supposed to be the last we saw of Eve, Roarke and the rest of the wonderful characters we all love. Thank Goodness Nora/JD had the sense to keep the series going for all these years!
Love that scene.
my favorite
I laughed so hard reading this, not many people terrify Roarke, yet the idea of Mavis helping Eve to dress shop truly scares himπ
This one is funny, my other favorite is when Eve winds Roarke up about performing in Rapture In Death.bbπ€£π
I can picture the fear on his face!!!
Since it's just after Eve tells Roarke she loves him and well before they are married, I'd call this Roarke's precursor to "Take care of my cop." He already knew her well. -Laura

He understands her so well.
She says she is careful, he knows she is not. And this was only the beginning of a great love story π₯°
Can anyone direct me to an author like JD Robb? I’ve read the series 3-4 times and I love it, but I need some other books too! π
Roarke knew his Eve from the beginning.
It's been awhile since I revisited the early books. But their early struggles to reach common ground were very insightful
Rereading the series now and it's so beautiful watching their relationship grow. π
Roarke understands her
Try Patricia Cornwell. Kay Scarpetta series is excellent.
I love the “Take care of my cop.” phrase.
I just reread this one. It’s a favorite.
That definitely is his way of saying take care of my cop!!!!
Love their dynamic…. Each time i reread the first 2 books, I notice something new and now we are getting ready for book… 50+.
Roarke understands her so well, when I reread the earlier books you are reminded of how far their relationship has grown x
This was so long ago, makes me think about re-reading from the beginningπ
No other author like JD Robb!
it always makes me smile when Roarke always says "take care of my cop"!
I never tire reading the books in the beginning of the series and how Eve & Roarke met and fell in love..
I am enjoying these random quotes from different books Laura not Nora. It's a nice switch up
my favourite books
Does anyone here remember in which book Rourke’s friend, Mick, was murdered? Thank you.
I love this couple
This is one of my favorites.
He knows her so well from the very beginning and he will always ask her to not take unnecessary risk but know she will always take the necessary ones.
Ooh. Starting over!
It's the pleasant insults that always make me laugh. Here Roarke's about to take care of various bumps and bruises related to the case. And Eve does whine, a bit. -Laura

Yes, you have to admit, Eve is quite creative with her language at times
There back and forth always make me giggle.
She definitely makes up for whining when she is really sore and upset!!!
Love the back and forth with them
Eve has an extensive vocabulary in whining lol
Love it when Eve and Somerset exchange words !!
I always want to go back and reread the books when I see these posts..
I love Nora's sense of humor! She always makes me smile with her dialogue!
I love these books
Their dialogues always make me smile and sometimes make me cry because they always understand each other.
I love how Roarke can hit a point with a few words. It's not quantity but quality that makes Eve stand out.
Roarke is a master with understatements!!!! π€£π€£
I absolutely love the interaction between these two. They really show what love is all about!! <3
quality over quantity every time π
The zingers are always such a treat!
She does, indeed! LOL
LOL Eve does whine a lot when she's sick or hurt real bad
Sometimes when Eve whines because she is getting bandaged or something, you just know she whines cos Roarke is there and she feels safe with him
Enjoy their back and forth
So true! π
She gets to remind Summerset about his conduct when he broke his leg.
Can anyone tell me if there, are any new books out in the JDRobb series please.
They crack me up π
Like every time he forces a soother on her? π π π
Love how Roarke takes care of her
